Training tomorrow's physicians
As Hawai‘i's only children's hospital, Kapi'olani serves as the pediatric
teaching hospital for the
University of Hawai‘i School of Medicine and has assisted in training
many of Hawai‘i's pediatricians.
Excellence in medical care
From the special underwater ocean murals and surfboards that adorn the
walls, to our child-life specialists skilled in helping patients and their
families during their hospital stay, Kapi'olani strives to make our young
patients feel at home.
Kapi'olani is Hawai‘i's only designated pediatric center. It boasts the
only emergency room with specialists trained in pediatric emergency medicine,
the only Adolescent Unit for the treatment of teens and the only intensive
care unit to treat critically-ill children. Kapi'olani is also home to Hawai‘i's
first fully integrated minimally invasive surgical suites, which translate
to less pain and a quicker recovery for our patients. In addition, Kapi'olani
Children's Specialty Center provides comprehensive care for children with
complex medical conditions from developmental and behavioral difficulties
to neurological and genetic disorders. Our multidisciplinary teams comprise
physician specialists, nurses, therapists and other health providers that
specialize in treating children.
Advancing Care Through Clinical Trials
In addition to providing state-of-the-art care, Kapi'olani is also committed
to pediatric clinical research to offer Hawai‘i's children the latest treatment
available. Our pediatric oncology program offers more than 95 clinical trials
for the treatment of children's cancer — the same treatment available at
leading cancer centers across the nation.
Reaching out to the community
Our mission to care and advocate for Hawai‘i's children does not stop
at our doors. Kapi'olani represents the interests of children and their
families addressing child safety and key health issues, including asthma
and the medically fragile. Most importantly, the hospital is the safety
net for those families in need of assistance.
Kapi'olani benefits all of Hawai‘i's children. Help us continue
