"The Retina Center saved my eyesight and my job."
"When I first went to see Dr. Kokame at the Retina Center at Pali Momi, I was just 27 years old. Due to a problem with my vision, I had failed the annual Fire Department physical and was at risk of losing my job.
"Dr. Kokame diagnosed me with a macular hole, which is a deterioration of my eye tissue, causing me to see a spot in the middle of everything. Just 10 years ago there was no treatment, and I would have gone blind in one eye, ending my career as a fireman.
"Thankfully, the Retina Center was here for me. Dr. Kokame and the staff were great. My surgery went well. I went to Kapi'olani Medical Center at Pali Momi in the afternoon and was back home the next morning. Four months later, I had regained my eyesight and was back to full duty as a firefighter. The Retina Center saved my career!"
