The Retina Center at Pali Momi has played an active role in bringing the latest retina treatment and technology to Hawaii, and has aggressively pursued research for the most common causes of vision loss, including macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
Over the past decade, the Center has participated in several national clinical trials which have led to advances in surgical techniques and new treatment modalities for previously untreatable blinding conditions. These studies have directly benefited hundreds of patients in Hawaii.
What is the Retina Center at Pali Momi?
The Retina Center was established by Kapi'olani Medical Center at Pali Momi to help patients regain and maintain their vision. It is the state's only comprehensive clinical and research center dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of the retina and vitreous.
The Center is directed by ophthalmologist Gregg T. Kokame, M.D., one of Hawaii's leading specialists in the medical and surgical management of retinal disease.
This highly specialized center provides state-of-the-art treatment consistent with that of retinal centers nationally.

The Retina Research Fund of the Kapi'olani Health Foundation is a unique way of supporting the Retina Center's ongoing research and education for new treatments and prevention of blinding retinal diseases. All the monies raised stays in Hawaii.
