Gregg T. Kokame, M.D.
Dr. Kokame is a board-certified ophthalmologist and graduate of Iolani High School, Pomona College and the UCLA School of Medicine. His general ophthalmologic training was completed at the world-renowned Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. He also completed a fellowship in vitreous diseases and surgery in 1988 at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami, where modern techniques in vitreoretinal surgery were pioneered.
Dr. Kokame is an associate clinical professor of ophthalmology at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine. He is also a member of many prestigious organizations of retinal surgeons and researchers, including Macula, Retina, and Vitreous Societies, and has been selected as one of the Best Doctors in America by his peers. He has been presented with the Senior Honor Award by the American Society of Retinal Surgeons for his contributions to research and education. Dr. Kokame also trains medical students, residents, and doctors (fellows) as part of the University of Hawaii School of Medicine program.
